Founder/CEO, Medallion Communications Limited, Ikechukwu Nnamani, is now the president, Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON). Nnamani was elected unopposed to lead the umbrella body for telecom operators beginning this year to 2022. He replaces Olusola Teniola.

The industry icon was recently honoured with a Special Recognition Award at the 4th edition of the Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecoms Awards (NTITA) for his outstanding contributions to the Nigerian telecom industry in a way that has helped to expand access to millions and helped to bridge the digital divide.

Medallion is one of Nigeria’s leading interconnect clearinghouses and co-location data service companies, More than 80% of all internet traffic exchanged at the Nigerian Internet Exchange (NIPX) originates from Medallion’s datacententres making the Nnamani-led company a strategic resource in Nigeria’s connectivity ecosystem.  

The new ATCON’s president is the 2019 NANS Man of the Year’ He has successfully led his company to build strong telecom infrastructural presence in several African countries including Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Angola, and Togo.

Nnamani will be leading a National Executive Council (NEC) that include:

Jane EgertonIdehen – National Secretary
Dr. Myke Ofili – Financial Secretary
Mr. Ezekiel Egboye – Treasurer
Wole Abu – Publicity Secretary
Mrs. Aderonke Adeyegbe – Coordinator, Consulting
Mr. Wale Owoeye – Coordinator, Equipment Dealers
Mr. Dapo Akanbi – Coordinator, Value Added Service
Mr. Abayomi Adebanjo – Coordinator, Infrastructure Service Providers
Nihinlola Fafare – Coordinator, Telephone Operators

The association new patrons are Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dr. Ernest Ndukwu, and the Executive Vice Chairman of 21st Century Technologies, Wale Ajisebutu.

According to Nnamani, ATCON will be focusing on strengthening the secretariat for more efficiency. increasing membership from sector players; and enhancing values to operators through partnering with other stakeholders including regulators.
