The GITEX Technology Week 2021 is less than 48 hours away. It is scheduled hold October 17-21, 2021 and will be hosting more than 200, 000 people from over 140 countries as trade visitors and exhibitors.
GITEX is holding 17 days after the World Trade Expo kicked off October 1. Expo 2020 Dubai is holding six months to end March 31, 2022 with about 192 countries including Nigeria participating.

Nigeria’s digital economy under focus at GITEX Global Vision
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be marking its Golden Jubilee with the GITEX Global Visions designed to mobilize the pioneering tech visions, initiatives and collaborations of government leaderships across the Middle East and African (MEA) continent.
According to the DWTC, organisers of GITEX, the GITEX Global Vision is holds under the auspices of the UAE government.
“Our inaugural Visions programme will drive and expand on the emergence of fiercely innovative economies across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Africa” with Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya expected to lead the portfolio of deliveries from Sub-Saharan Africa on tech visionary leadership,” says the DWTC.
All three countries are major players in Africa’s digital space with Nigeria leading as the continent’s biggest economy with the largest population in excess of 200 million.
Nigeria has come under positive scrutiny in the last two years for its aggressive policy thrust to accelerate transition into the digital economy. The country has also been a major player from sub-Saharan Africa in GITEX Technology Week.
Nigeria’s digital economy vision is expected to be shared by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
