Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State has continued to deliver lectures online to students as the coronavirus persists, said the management. The school had also commenced its second-semester examination in virtual space beginning of June.

Following the directive of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Joshua Ogunjide, in response to the lockdown across the country, the school had rejigged its academic activities leveraging internet tools.

Thus, academic activities, in line with the school’s calendar, have not suffered any significant disruption, said Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Toba Adaramola.

“Directive has been given to teaching members of staff to be active online for effective teaching through the uploading of teaching materials and real-time interaction with the students using the Bowen Smart School Hub,” said Adaramola in a statement issued by the school.

“The recent closure of the university was in compliance with the directive of the government on the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the entire world. While the university is on a short vacation as a result of the directive, normal academic activities continue virtually,” the statement added.

The vice chancellor advised the students to carefully read the guidelines for the online examination published on the university website.

“Students are reminded that the university has zero-tolerance for examination malpractices and irregularities and are further asked not to block the cameras of their computers while the examination is ongoing,” said Adaramola while quoting the vice chancellor.
