The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has opened applications for African startups to participate at the GITEX 2022 North Star Pitch Competition taking place from 10-13 October 2022 in Dubai. To apply, see details below.
Next month May, a DWTC team will be travelling across Africa as part of a roadshow to scout for and support promising entrepreneurial business startups in Africa and spotlight the winners in front of global audiences at the world’s largest tech + startup event: GITEX in October.
For the West Africa’s, Nigeria’s end of the initiative, the DWTC is partnering with the Nigerian government through the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA); and other local partners including Lagos State government, Art of Technology, and Pinnacle International LLC.
All winners will be fully sponsored to participate in GITEX.
The pan-African initiative is designed to support startup innovations across various sectors and get some of the continent’s brightest innovators help to shape the new global economy.

The time has come for African startups to shine at the world’s largest tech + startup event. Our team is travelling across Africa to discover the best startups of each African nation and spotlight the winners in front of global audiences at North Star, taking place from 10-13 October 2022 in Dubai.
On 11 May 2022, we will be in Abuja and on 12 May 2022 we will be in Lagos where top 20 shortlisted startups from each city will pitch live on stage and two winners from each city will get the chance to be featured at North Star in Dubai, with complimentary flights and exhibition pod.
This initiative in Nigeria is held in partnership with Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Pinnacle International Consulting LLC., Lagos State and Art of Technology.
