The Africa Digital Economy Forum (ADEF) has announced its support for the first ever Nigeria Teen Cyber Festival (ngTeenCyberFest 2021) holding in Jos, capital city of Plateau state in the central zone of the country.
ADEF’s President Olusola Teniola said in Lagos that the Forum’s endorsement for ngTeenCyberFest 2021 underscores part of its objectives to drive awareness for digital economy among the continent’s young population who not only constitute over 60% of Africa\s demography but carry the greatest responsibility of driving the continent’s digital future.
Capacity of Africa’s young population to drive transition to digital economy not in doubt
“Africa’s steady transition to technology-enabled economies is not in doubt. What must not also be in doubt is the capacity of its young population to drive and sustain this transition for common good of everyone. Raising awareness targeting to improve capacity or reskilling, investments, policies and regulations from bottom up of the population should be encouraged and fostered as part of the drive for Africa’s shift to digitalizing its economy,” said Teniola.
Organised by the Child Cyber Protection organization (CC-Pro) and partners,the first Nigerian Teen Cyber Festival is holding as part of the activities toobserve this year’s International Children’s Day.
ngTeenCyberFest is fiesta of Conference, CyberTalents Expo, Teen Fire Chat on Opportunities and Challenges
The ngTeenCyberFest 2021 “is a fiesta of Conference, CyberTalents Expo, Teen Fire Chat on Opportunities and Challenges in cyberspace; and platform for leveraging innovations; and promoting Ideas Xchange for young people – the largest individual users of the internet in Nigeria,” said CEO/Co-Founder CC-Pro, Delmwa Gogwim.
The main theme for the 2021 Nigerian Teen Cyber Festival is ‘Harnessing the Power of Young People Online in the Digital Age.’ The event is already admitting presentations around the major theme from local and international speakers.
Organisers have confirmed positive responses from Nigerian stakeholders including regulatory authorities expected to provide official insights into Nigeria’s continuous development of its young people’s presence in cyberspace.
